Mapother & Mapother

Location: Louisville, KY

Description: Mapother & Mapother, P.S.C. was founded by Thomas Cruise Mapother, Jr., who began practicing law in Louisville in 1930. The firm is nationally known for its representation of creditors. With headquarters in Louisville, KY, the firm represents creditors throughout all of Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio and the southern half of Indiana.

Situation: With a service area covering four states the complexity of procedures within this organization is tremendous.  Mapother & Mapother required a technology platform that would be able to accommodate the large variety of processes and legal procedures for each state that they operate in.  At the same time they needed this to be managed and enforced within an application that was easy to navigate and use allowing new hires to become productive as soon as possible.

Result:  Since implementing Cogent®, Mapother & Mapother has been able to define and maintain a separate and unique workflow for each of the states they operate in.  Using Cogent's point and click rule building wizard, they are able to build and maintain unique business rules within the software and have them enforced on specific groups of accounts within their inventory.  Additionally, Cogent's intuitive user interface and enforcement of automation enable users to record an activity or initiate an event and have the software determine and execute the appropriate next actions and schedule follow-ups.  This has reduced the amount of time new legal assistants require to learn the system and become productive in half, saving weeks of lost productivity each year.
